AMP Awards

The statewide marketing and communications contest committee is proud to present “The AMP Awards,” powered by OAEC and Oklahoma Living. The goal is to provide an in-state venue for co-op communicators to receive media judge feedback and have the chance of seeing their work recognized for excellence in the state.

The AMP Awards recognize outstanding communications created by Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives and broadband affiliates. The program celebrates work that informs, educates and engages members while encouraging excellence in writing, design and photography.
The contest has been redesigned to simplify the entry process, encourage broader participation and recognize the core communications skills every cooperative uses throughout the year.

 

Eligibility
The contest is open to:
  • Oklahoma electric cooperative communication departments
  • Oklahoma electric cooperative broadband affiliates
  • All entries must have been produced from September 2025-August 2026.
  • There is no entry fee.
Cooperative Divisions
Electric cooperatives will compete based on communications team size.
  • Small Cooperative – Communications departments with one or two communications employees.
  • Large Cooperative – Communications departments with three or more communications employees.
  • Broadband Division – Broadband affiliates will compete together regardless of staff size.
Categories
Each cooperative must submit one entry in each category option.
Writing
Choose one of the following:
  • Feature Story
  • Column/Editorial
  • News Release
  • Digital Content (website article, email or blog)
Design
Choose one of the following:
  • Print Design
  • Digital Graphic
  • Publication Layout (newsletter, annual report or special publication)
  • Advertising or Marketing Piece
Photography
Choose one of the following:
  • People
  • Cooperative in Action
  • Landscape or Community
  • Event Coverage
Entry Limits
Each cooperative must submit:
  • One Writing entry
  • One Design entry
  • One Photography entry
  • Maximum of three total entries
Judging
Entries will be evaluated by a communication professional outside the Oklahoma cooperative network.
Awards
Awards will be presented in each division.
  • Small Cooperative
    • First Place
    • Second Place
  • Large Cooperative
    • First Place
    • Second Place
  • Broadband
    • First Place
    • Second Place

Recipients will be recognized during the OAEC Member Relations & Communications Association meeting and again during the OAEC annual meeting.

 

Submission Requirements
Deadlines
  • Entries must be submitted by the published contest deadline.
  • Entries are due by September 30 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
General Rules
  • Entries must be original work produced for the submitting cooperative.
  • Work must be created by employees of the cooperative.
Judges’ decisions are final.
Winning entries may be displayed by OAEC for educational and promotional purposes with credit given to the submitting cooperative.

Use of External Vendors
Entries must reflect the original work of the cooperative’s communications team. Work created entirely by an external vendor is not eligible for submission. If an external vendor provided services in the creation of the entry (such as design, photography, videography or production), this must be disclosed in the entry submission. The cooperative’s role in the project should be clearly described.

Use of Artificial Intelligence
The AMP Awards values originality and authentic cooperative storytelling. If artificial intelligence (AI) tools were used in creating any part of an entry (writing, imagery, audio or video), this must be disclosed on the entry submission. Entries that rely primarily on AI-generated work are not eligible.

We invite you to enter categories on behalf of your co-op and attend the honors reception on November 5 at OAEC to celebrate your work and the work of your peers. Work created between September 2025 and August 2026 is eligible for submission. Entries are due by September 30 at 11:59 p.m.
