OAEC welcomes new safety & loss control instructor

The Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC) is pleased to announce Justin Marsh has been selected the association’s new safety & loss control instructor. Justin will replace Greg Hambrick who has served at OAEC for 12 years and has announced his retirement effective January 31, 2025.

In this role, Marsh will serve as the designated safety instructor for electric cooperatives in southern Oklahoma. Marsh joins a team of two other statewide safety instructors who conduct safety trainings for Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives, covering all 77 counties in the state of Oklahoma.

“Justin has vast experience in the electric cooperative industry and is fully invested in a culture of safety, which is vital for our co-ops. He will be a strong asset for Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives,” Derec Janaway, OAEC’s director of Safety & Loss Control said.

In 2003, Marsh began his career at Southwest Rural Electric Association (SWRE) based in Tipton, Oklahoma as an apprentice lineman. He worked in maintenance and construction for many years and most recently was serving as District Lineman at SWRE.

“I am privileged to be a part of the electric cooperative family. Like other linemen, I enjoy giving back and the feeling of helping others by turning the lights on,” Marsh said. “I’m excited for this opportunity to share knowledge and instill safety values with the electric cooperative network in Oklahoma.”

Marsh lives in Vernon, Texas with his wife Casey and 16-year-old son Kade and 12-year-old daughter Charli. Marsh is the president of the school’s Booster Club and stays busy following his kids in sports and 4-H activities.

Marsh started his employment at OAEC on Monday, October 14, 2024.
