Standing strong in the face of storms

The saying, “April showers brings May flowers,” isn’t often as nice as it sounds in Oklahoma. We understand early summer can bring furious weather and your rural electric cooperative is no stranger to standing together in times of crisis. Our commitment to providing reliable electricity to every corner of our great state remains unwavering, even when faced with the most daunting conditions.

I am proud to reaffirm our dedication to the Mutual Aid Agreement established by the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC). This agreement, forged through the shared experiences of overcoming adversity, embodies the spirit of cooperation that defines our Oklahoma electric cooperative family.

When a fellow cooperative is in need, we pledge to respond swiftly and decisively, prioritizing the safety of your lineworkers and the restoration of service. Whether it’s repairing downed lines or rebuilding damaged infrastructure, our goal remains the same: to bring power back to our communities.

We recognize the financial strain that emergencies can place on our cooperatives. Therefore, any assistance we provide will be done at net cost, ensuring that restoration is provided as safely and affordably as possible.

Both the giving and receiving cooperatives agree to honor their commitments. From covering costs to releasing borrowed personnel once service is restored, transparency and accountability are woven into each step of the process.

OAEC serves as the linchpin of our mutual aid efforts, acting as the liaison between cooperatives in need and those helping. This centralized coordination ensures that help reaches where it is needed most without delay.

In the face of storms that threaten to disrupt our lives and livelihoods, your co-op is prepared in confidence. Together, as members of the Oklahoma electric cooperative community, we possess the strength and resilience to overcome any obstacle that comes our way.
