This is down from peak outages of 65,430 that occurred at Noon on Friday, January 29th, 2010.
ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE STATUS REPORTS:
Rural Electric Cooperative, Lindsay: As of 4:00 p.m. this Sunday afternoon, all residential services that could safely receive electricity have had power restored. However, a handful of essential service accounts still lack power, and REC crews, Mutual Aid crews, and contractors continue the work to restore electric service to these essential service accounts. It is expected that most will have electricity restored early in the week.
Southwest Rural Electric Association, Tipton, OK: General Manager, Mike Hagy, reports that SWRE continues its work to rebuild lines in the northern part of the co-op's service territory that were damaged in the January 28 ice storm. More than 2,300 poles and many miles of SWRE line in Jackson County and southern Kiowa County were lost in the storm. As of Sunday evening, approximately 15-20 residential accounts were still without power. Although the number of SWRE members without service has been greatly reduced in recent days, many of the remaining outages represent some of the most significant challenges because of isolated location, mountainous, brushy or muddy terrain, and the number of poles that must be replaced to restore service. In many instances, two or three miles of line must be repaired to restore service to a single residence. Repairs are being made as quickly as possible, but restoring these final accounts is especially difficult. There is still a water storage facility in a very mountainous region of the SWRE service area that is yet to have power restored as well. Most residential customers should have power restored by Tuesday evening, or by Noon Wednesday, February 17th.
Kiwash Electric Cooperative, Cordell: General Manager, Dennis Krueger, reports that less than 5 KEC residential accounts are without power as of 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Most of these remaining consumers should have electricity by late tonight. In order to repair these last 5 services, several miles of electric line have to be re-built, with bulldozers being used to move trucks to almost every pole.
Harmon Electric Association, Hollis: General Manager, Charles Paxton, reports that outages are now below 47 residential accounts . Residential service restoration is HEA's top priority. More than 200 linemen from several states are now working to assist Harmon Electric in their restoration effort, and additional Mutual Aid Co-op crews arrived this week to assist in the final phase of the restoration effort. At one point today, three of HEA's substations were without power due to a transmission outage by Western Farmers Electric Cooperative. HEA's Eldorado, Hollis and Republic Gypsum substations were expected to be returned to service by 8:00 p.m. tonight following critical repairs being made. It is expected that all residential services will have electric power restored by Wednesday, February 17th, at the latest.
