Ice Storm Outage Update:

From 2 to 4 inches of snow is predicted today for much of the area previously impacted by the January 28th ice storm. Heavy snow is occurring in western, central and northern Oklahoma at the present time. More than 60,102 customers have had electric service restored over the last 12 days.  Approximately 5,328 Co-op consumers remain without power this Monday morning. Pole losses range from 12,000 to 12,500. Estimated losses are over $42 million.

This is down over 60,102 from peak outages of 65,430 that occurred at Noon on Friday, January 29th, 2010.

 

ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE STATUS REPORTS:

Cotton Electric Cooperative, Walters:  The majority of the current Cotton Electric Cooperative outages (941 as of 8:30 a.m. Monday morning) are located in the areas listed below:

Rural Electric Cooperative, Lindsay:  An estimated 700 accounts remained without power this morning. More than 650 poles have already been replaced. An estimated total of poles lost in the storm is now expected to exceed 900. Power was restored in several areas throughout REC’s service area yesterday. We continue to reduce the number of outages in all areas REC serves with repair crews continuing to work on main feeder lines which restores power to the greatest number in the shortest time possible. Many of the “tap lines” that are being worked by two man crews have as few as one house up to five or six houses.  Crews continue to work long hours daily to restore power. More than 150 REC personnel, sister cooperative crews and contractors are working to restore power to the remaining accounts without power. Another winter storm is predicted to hit our area beginning today. The storm is expected to bring light rain and snow. Residents should be aware of the storm and prepare by stocking up on essential items necessary to get through this winter storm.

Caddo Electric Cooperative, Binger:  Outages have now dropped below 1,350 as Caddo Electric Cooperative and contractor crews continue to rebuild distribution feeder circuits across the southern and western parts of their multi-county service area. Heaviest concentrations of outages are in central and southeastern Caddo County and southeastern Kiowa County.

Southwest Rural Electric Association, Tipton, OK:  Progress has been made restoring services and backbone feeder circuits.  It is now estimated that less than 475 SWREA consumers are without power this Monday morning. SPECIAL NOTICE:    Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (SWREA's power provider) plans repairs to transmission lines leading into SWREA's Altus substation on Monday morning, February 8th, which will result in a limited power outage to some accounts. The planned outage will begin at about 9:00 a.m. and will last approximately one hour. It will affect SWREA accounts located south and east of Altus.

Kiwash Electric Cooperative, Cordell:  General Manager, Dennis Krueger, reports that less than 398 KEC members are without power this Monday morning.

Harmon Electric Association, Hollis:  General Manager, Charles Paxton, reports that distribution system outages are now below 1,750 members. There is heavy damage to the Harmon Electric electric distribution system - broken pole estimates now stand at between 3,250 and 3,500 across the Cooperative's Oklahoma and Texas service area. More than 160 linemen from several states are working to assist Harmon Electric in their restoration effort, and additional crews will arriving early in the week to assist in the restoration effort.

 

OTHER UTILITY OUTAGES:

AEP/PSO:  Currently reporting a total of less than 25 outages, with most of those outages in the Lawton area.

OMPA:  Currently reporting approximately 800 outages in the Altus area; two generators are up and running in the town of Marlow, and most customers in that community now have some electric power.
